Denoise, Stabilize, Sharpen: Rescuing Imperfect Aerial Clips

Every project has a clip that matters and is not quite right. The light went, the wind picked up, the only take of the thing that will never happen again is soft. Some of that is fixable and some of it is not, and the difference usually comes down to doing the fixes in the correct order.
Denoise first, always
Noise reduction goes before sharpening, before scaling, before the grade. Sharpening applied to a noisy image sharpens the noise, and once that is baked in no later stage can separate the two.
Temporal denoisers, which compare a frame against its neighbours, are far better than spatial ones on aerial footage, because most of the frame is moving predictably and the noise is not. The failure mode is smearing on fast motion and on anything with genuinely random movement, water and foliage in wind especially. Watch the trees when you set the strength.
Be conservative. Over denoised footage develops a waxy plastic quality that looks worse than the noise did, and it shows up most on skin and on brick.
Stabilize with a clear head
Modern aircraft are stable enough that shake is usually either a gust or a stick input rather than a mechanical problem. Which one it is decides the fix.
A gust is a short violent disturbance, and a warp stabilizer set to smooth motion will handle it at the cost of cropping in. A jerky stick input is a whole different thing, and the honest answer is often to cut around it rather than to smooth it, because smoothing a bad move produces the rubbery wobble that everyone recognises as a fixed shot.
The one to be careful with is rolling shutter. On a fast pan, vertical lines lean, and stabilization applied on top of that skew amplifies it. Correct the rolling shutter first if the tool offers it separately.
Sharpening is a lie that works
Sharpening does not add detail. It increases local contrast at edges so your eye reads the frame as crisper. Applied gently that is genuinely useful, particularly after denoising, which always costs a little acuity.
Applied heavily it produces halos around every high contrast edge, which on aerial footage means a bright outline around every roofline against the sky. Once you know to look for it you cannot stop seeing it, and it is the single most common tell of over processed drone footage.
Use an unsharp mask with a small radius, check at one hundred percent rather than on a scaled down preview, and check on the highest contrast edge in the frame rather than on the subject.
What cannot be fixed
Motion blur from too slow a shutter. Clipped highlights, where the sky is pure white and there is nothing recorded to recover. Focus. Anything shot at the wrong frame rate for the slow motion somebody now wants.

The order, in one line
Rolling shutter, denoise, stabilize, scale, grade, sharpen, and only sharpen at the resolution you are delivering. Deliver at a higher bitrate than feels necessary, because everything you have just repaired is exactly what a hard compression pass will undo.
